How quickly is someone removed from your database once they have disposed of their auto (sold, etc.)?

At M1 Data, we prioritize maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. It's essential for our operations to utilize the most relevant and current data. Here's how we decide when to remove a vehicle record from our system to ensure data freshness.

Criteria for Removing a Vehicle Record

  1. Validation and Connection to VIN

    • Regular Validation: If a record hasn't been validated with a connection to a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) within 10 months, it is removed from our database. This practice ensures that our data remains current and relevant.
  2. Change of Ownership

    • Ownership Updates: We update our database promptly following the first sign in a change of vehicle ownership. This ensures that our records accurately reflect current ownership details.
  3. Intelligent Bot Crawler

    • Dealer Lot Detection: Our intelligent bot crawler identifies when a VIN appears on a dealer's lot, indicating a trade-in or sale. This triggers an update to our records to reflect the vehicle's new status.
  4. Insurance Claims Data

    • Total Loss Identification: When a vehicle is flagged as a total loss through insurance claims data, we remove the record from our active database. This step is crucial to maintaining data relevancy.
  5. International Movements

    • Bill of Lading Data: We track vehicles exported out of the United States through Bill of Lading data. When a vehicle is exported, the corresponding record is pruned as part of our regular data hygiene process.

Benefits of Our Approach

  • Data Accuracy: By removing outdated or irrelevant records, we ensure that our database contains only the most accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Relevance: Keeping our data fresh allows us to provide high-quality, relevant insights to our clients.
  • Efficiency: Regular updates and intelligent tracking mechanisms help maintain the integrity of our database, improving the efficiency of our data services.
